About me

Hello! My name is Andrew Parks, and I’m a 3L at the University of Michigan Law School. I previously attended Oakland University (Rochester, MI), where I received a Bachelor of Science in marketing.

Before attending law school, I spent a large portion of my life pursuing a career in music. As an artist and producer, I performed at concerts as the opening act for some Grammy Award-winning and platinum-selling artists, including J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B., Fat Joe, Nelly, and Gym Class Heroes. I’ve performed at various festivals and conferences, including the SXSW Music Conference, the Sundance Film Festival, and at afterparty events for Eminem, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Kevin Hart.

I have had my music featured on networks like ESPN, MTV, Freeform, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, BBC 1Xtra, and in various music publications such as Billboard, Vibe, XXL, Respect, and others. I also have had the great privilege of collaborating on songs with Andre Drummond, NBA All-Star and Detroit Pistons Center; 88-Keys, Grammy Award-winning producer and Kanye West-collaborator; Fatman Scoop, legendary hype man and radio personality; and DJ Skee, prominent DJ/producer and host of SkeeTV on Fuse.

Outside of music, I spent time working as a digital producer at an advertising agency. In my role, I managed the production of hundreds of animated banner ads and social media campaigns, dozens of website landing pages, and several online sweepstakes projects. I was responsible for creating client estimates, managing timelines, and keeping projects within budget and on track. I worked with a team of web developers, animators, and graphic designers, and in the fast-paced world of digital advertising, I was required to be very organized, efficient, and attentive to detail.

Although I believe music and advertising can both affect the collective consciousness of an audience, I am now pursuing a career in law because I believe it provides an ability to create more tangible change in my community. Now at the University of Michigan Law School, I’m working to sharpen my skills in legal reasoning and writing to become an exemplary advocate for my future clients.
