About me
Hi, I'm Drew! Thanks for checking out my site. I'm an attorney and aspiring writer based in New York City. Some of my writings have been published in Bloomberg Law, Reuters, and the Michigan Law Review.
I'm currently a litigation associate at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where my practice focuses primarily on complex civil litigation, including commercial litigation, and securities and consumer class actions. I also spent a considerable portion of my practice focused on pro bono matters, including working on a federal civil rights action under Section 1983, and various immigration and asylum matters.
I'm a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D.) and Oakland University (B.S.). While in law school, I served as a Senior Editor on Michigan Law Review and Managing Digital Editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. I also worked as a student attorney in the University of Michigan Law School's Federal Appellate Litigation Clinic. In that role, I assisted in briefing and arguing appeals on behalf of criminal defendants and habeas petitioners at the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Eleventh Circuits.
Before I ever dreamt of becoming an attorney, I spent a large portion of my late teens and early 20s pursuing a career in music as an artist and producer. In 2011, I performed live as the opening act for rap artist J. Cole at his tour stop in Detroit, and in 2013, I performed live as the opening act for Kendrick Lamar at a concert in Detroit. I opened up shows for several other artists as well, including Nelly, Fat Joe, B.o.B., and Gym Class Heroes. Some of my music was featured on TV and radio networks including MTV, ESPN, Freeform, BBC 1Xtra, SiriusXM, and in music publications including Billboard, The Source, XXL Magazine, and others.
